ICSB CPD PROGRAMME held on “An Overview of New Value Added Tax (VAT) Act”
Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) organized a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme on “An Overview of New Value Added Tax (VAT) Act” on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Institute premises at Padma Life Tower (7th Floor) 115 Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Bangla Motor, Dhaka-1000.
Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf, Additional Director General, Bangladesh Customs Excise and VAT Training Academy, Chittagong presented the Keynote Paper, while Mohammad Sanaullah FCS, Immediate Past President, ICSB and Corporate Affairs Director & Company Secretary, Singer Bangladesh Ltd was the Session Chairman. Md. Monirul Alam FCS Vice President of the Institute offered Vote of Thanks at the end of the session.
Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf in his presentation highlighted the distinctions between the current Value Added Tax (VAT) Act and the New Value Added Tax (VAT) Act in details to educate the participants about different features of the new Act. He also mentioned the background of this new Act while focusing on the implementation stages of the New Value Added Tax (VAT) Act- 2016 with importance on the ICT based facilities for the stakeholders
Official Discussant of the session was Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Customs Specialist, (Deputy Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh), USAID BTFA Project, Dhaka. He further explained different traits which are included in the New Value Added Tax (VAT) Act.
Thereafter, qualitative and fruitful discussions were held during a question-answer session between the participating Members of the Institute and the Keynote Presenter.
Mohammad Sanaullah FCS as Session Chairman moderated and summed up the whole session.
The Programme was attended by a large number of Members of the Institute who are working in different listed companies of the country.
