Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) was established under an Act of Parliament i.e. Chartered Secretaries Act 2010 and it is the only recognized Governance Professional body to develop, promote and regulate the profession of Chartered Secretary in Bangladesh.
ICSB is a statutory body administrated by Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and it is regulated under CS Regulations 2011.
The major contribution of a Chartered Secretary is in the corporate sector. Chartered Secretary is a requisite qualification to become a Company Secretary. CS is an important professional aiding the efficient management of the corporate sector.
Company Secretary is a Statutory Officer under the Companies Act 1994. According to Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) all the listed companies should have a Company Secretary. Company Secretary is the Compliance Officer of the company, who has to interact, coordinate, integrate and co-operate with the stakeholders, regulators and various other functional heads in a company.

My dear Governance Professional Colleagues, Interns, Students, and ICSB officers and staffs!
I, on my own behalf and behalf of my Council Members express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Hon’ble Members for electing us as the Council Members of ICSB. I have observed that a large number of young members unitedly came forward to give their sacred verdict for the development of the CS profession in the ICSB election to materialize their hopes and aspirations. With great heart and belief, I call upon all members of the Council and also the members of ICSB to come forward to work together for the development of our beloved CS profession to a center of excellence in national and international level.
Our sound curriculum is led by distinguished faculty who are experts in their fields and value teaching. Our CS Program and it's courses from Foundation Level to Certificate and Professional Levels prepare students for jobs in the regional economy, while our courses help students develop critical thinking, teamwork skills, and effective communication that employers increasingly demand for all level of employees. It is good to know that ICSB is playing an effective and meaningful role to develop, promote and regulate the profession of Chartered Secretaries in Bangladesh. The profession has been contributing in the field of Corporate Governance practices. ICSB helps the corporate bodies to achieve transparent and sound CG practices, which will ultimately help them sustain in the globalized competitive free market economy.
ICSB is the apex professional body in the country to develop, promote and regulate the profession of Chartered Secretaries in Bangladesh which was established under the Chartered Secretaries Act, 2010. The Institute has been working for several years with the noble objective of recognizing listed companies in our country for their contribution towards sustainable good governance.
I am happy to learn that since its inception ICSB has been playing a very pivotal role in establishing good Corporate Governance in the country. To promote and facilitate good governance in the corporate sector ICSB has been taking various effective measures. These measures include recognition and awarding companies for their enduring contribution to governance.
Over the last couple of decades sound Corporate Governance has emerged as a major issue in discourses on economic development in the global arena. The "ICSB National Award" is a testimony to the dedicated efforts of the Institute to promote commitment by companies to achieve excellence in Corporate Governance. This will be beneficial to the organizations and the country.
