ICSB CELEBRATED “13th ANNIVERSARY OF ESTABLISHMENT DAY OF ICSB, 2023”

Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) celebrated the “13th Anniversary of Establishment Day of ICSB, 2023” on 16 June 2023 at Grand Ballroom, Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. The programme was participated by a large number of Members of ICSB. The programme started with recitation from the Holy Quran.

Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Senior Vice President of ICSB delivered the welcome speech. In his speech, he highly praised the active leadership of President Mr. Mohammad Asadullah FCS who worked relentlessly to get the Enactment of the Chartered Secretaries Act, 2010. He fought for 11 years to achieve this. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Council Members of 2009-2010 who worked sincerely to pass the CS Act.

Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of the Institute in his celebration of 13^th Anniversary Day speech shared his enthusiastic feelings on this great occasion. He thanked the present Government of Sheikh Hasina under whose leadership the Chartered Secretaries Act, 2010 was passed in the Parliament. He also respectfully remembered, the Honorary Fellow Members of ICSB who cooperated him to pass the CS Act in Parliament, and he specially mentioned the contributions of Mr. Moahammad Faruk Khan, MP, the then Minister of Commerce. He recalled that, all the Council Members from 2003 to 2010 were highly supportive to him and given the responsibility to pass the CS Act. He emphasized that it is the high time to address other important pending issues for the professional development of the Chartered Secretaries to bring it to a new height and center of excellence.

He also underscored that, since its establishment, this is the first time, ICSB profession is recognized by an Act of Parliament i.e. the Income Tax Act, 2023 (Bill No.21) that has been placed in the Parliament on 8 June 2023 and waiting for its approval. NBR has also included ICSB professionals in the Income Tax Return Preparation Rules 2023 vide a SRO dated 23 May 2023.

He mentioned that ICSB won the land case of Aftabnagar, which was dismissed by the competent Court of Dhaka District Judge Court for which we fought for last nine years.

The anniversary programme was marked with reminiscence and accolades of the Fellow and Associate Members of the Institute with much enthusiasm. Mr. N. G. Chakraborty FCS, Mr. Raja Mahmudul Haque FCS, Mr. Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui ACS shared their memories and feelings.

On the occasion, a good number of Fellow and Associate Members of the Institute participated in the grand function at the Grand Ballroom, Pan Pacific Sonargaon and enjoyed a fascinating cultural program presented by a renowned Artist of the country.

At the end, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Treasurer of the institute offered a vote of thanks to and from the Chair.
