Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) conducted training on ‘Leading with ESG & Sustainability: Strategy, Compliance & Business Excellence' held at Hotel Holiday Inn, Dhaka aimed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and reporting for its members, corporate officials and other professionals. 

Prof. Dr. Feroz Iqbal Faruque FCS, Chairman of Sustainability & ESG Sub-Committee of ICSB, delivered the welcome speech. President of ICSB Mr. Mohammad Shahajahan FCS said in his inaugural speech that sustainability is no longer merely a theoretical concept but has become an integral part of modern business practices and organizational decision-making and then he inaugurated the training programme. Mr. Md. Sharif Hasan FCS, Vice President & Coordinator of the said training thanked everyone for attending a time-befitting training and introduced the resource persons and outlined the objectives of the training. 

The session was conducted by Mr. Md. Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury, Secretary & Chief Executive Officer of ICSB and Former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank; Mr. Meer Sajed Ul Basher FCA, Principal & CEO of Sajed Meer Chartered Accountants; Mr. Shadman Sakib Anik, Executive Director of ESG Institute Bangladesh and Professor Dr. Suborna Barua, Department of International Business, University of Dhaka. During the training, the resource persons provided an in-depth overview of ESG fundamentals, governance & integrity and sustainability reporting (GRI, IFRS-S1 and IFRS-S2). 

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session, where participants raised various questions regarding the practical challenges of implementing ESG and sustainability practices. The resource persons responded to the queries and shared practical insights and recommendations. 

A good number of ICSB members and senior officials from banks, finance companies, insurance companies and leading corporate houses, different professionals attended the training programme. Mr. Mohammad Shahajahan FCS, President of ICSB handed over the certificates to the participants. Finally, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Council Member of ICSB delivered the vote of thanks.
