Dhaka, 14 June 2026: The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) organized a seminar titled “Sustainability Reporting: Regulations & Way Forward” at the BIM Auditorium, Dhaka, on 13 June 2026. The seminar aimed to enhance awareness and professional understanding of sustainability reporting, ESG practices and the evolving regulatory landscape.

Mr. Hossain Sadat FCS, President of ICSB, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) in ensuring sustainable business operations. Referring to OECD and ILO principles, he emphasized the growing importance of adoption of sustainability standards, mandatory reporting and assurance certification.

The keynote paper was presented by Mr. Meer Sajed Ul Basher FCA, Sustainability and ESG Professional. He discussed the global evolution of sustainability reporting and its role in long-term value creation, corporate governance, and stakeholders’ confidence. He also emphasized the increasing role of Company Secretaries in sustainability reporting, mitigating risk and addressing societal needs.

Prof. Dr. Feroz Iqbal Faruque FCS, Chairman of the Sustainability and ESG Sub-Committee of ICSB, highlighted the importance of trust, professionalism, ethics and sustainability in business practices.

Ms. Nuzhat Anwar, Managing Director of Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC, stressed that sustainability and ESG compliance are becoming critical for enhancing Bangladesh’s competitiveness and attracting foreign investment. She also emphasized the need for capacity building and stronger collaboration among stakeholders.

Mr. Chowdhury Liakat Ali, Director, Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, attended as Special Guest and shared insights on sustainable finance initiatives, IFRS S1 and S2 implementation and regulatory developments.

Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), attended as Chief Guest and highlighted the importance of sustainability reporting in strengthening corporate accountability, transparency and investor confidence.

The seminar was chaired by Mr. Mohammed Showket Iqbal FCS, Chairman of the Seminar and Conference Sub-Committee of ICSB. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Mir Shariful Bashar FCS and concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session attended by ICSB members and corporate leaders.
