ICSB ORGANIZED INAUGURATION OF JULY-DECEMBER 2026 SESSION OF CHARTERED SECRETARY COURSE 

Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) organized the inaugural session of July-December 2026 intake of the Chartered Secretary (CS) Course at its main campus on Thursday, 20 August 2026 at 7:00 PM, at the ICSB premises. The inaugural session was attended by a good number of students. 

In the welcome address, Mr. Md. Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of ICSB extended welcome to the newly admitted students to the new chapter of their lives and then detailed how this professional qualification would be instrumental in their career advancement. 

Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam FCS, Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Education Committee of ICSB mentioned that the programme marks the beginning of a new journey and he received the students with a warm welcome. He oriented them about the CS course and class conducting procedure; highlighted the prospects of the Chartered Secretary profession and assured the students of his constant support. 

Mr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan FCS, Council Member and Chairman of Examination Committee of ICSB focused on the examination related rules and regulations and gave an overview. 

Mr. Mohammad Shahajahan FCS, President of ICSB inaugurated the July-December 2026 session of Chartered Secretary (CS) Course by extending his warm greetings to the new students. He urged them to strive for academic excellence, uphold professional values and remain committed to continuous learning and professional development. He briefly discussed the prospect of the Chartered Secretary (CS) profession in national and global context. 

Among other dignitaries, Mr. Md. Sharif Hasan FCS, Vice President; Mr. M Mazedul Islam FCS, Council Member and Member of Education Committee were present and delivered their speech.

The question and answer session was spontaneous, where students participated with relevant questions. Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Council Member & Member of the Education Committee of ICSB offered the vote of thanks and accented the demanding nature of the Chartered Secretary qualification. In his concluding note, he thanked everyone for choosing the profession. 

Mr. Mohammad Shahajahan FCS has been elected as President of Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) in its 123^rd Council Meeting held on 4 August 2026 for the remaining period (4 August 2026- 9 October 2028) of the 2025-2028 term of the Council. He passed Chartered Secretary (CS) in 2008 and became Associate Chartered Secretary (ACS) of the institute. In 2014, he was elevated as Fellow Chartered Secretary (FCS) of ICSB.

Mr. Shahajahan is currently serving as Divisional Controller of Accounts (DCA), Rangpur. He belongs to 24^th Batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (Audit & Accounts) Cadre and joined in public service in 2 July 2005. During his distinguished career, he has served in different capacities of Audit & Accounts Department. He also worked in lien for five years as Consultant (Financial Management Specialist) in World Bank and IFAD funded NATP-2 Project, Ministry of Agriculture of GoB. 

Mr. Shahajahan obtained both his Honours and Master’s degree in Accounting from Jagannath University and M.Sc. in Development Management (Public Economic Management and Finance) from International Development Department (IDD), University of Birmingham, UK. He participated many training courses in home and abroad. He has 36 national publications and 4 international publications published in renowned Journals/Magazine. 

Besides, he was Chairman of Journal and Publication Sub-Committee of ICSB and Editor of ICSB Corporate Professional Journal “The Chartered Secretary”. He has drafted OCAG’s “Strategy Paper on Improving Responsiveness to Audit Observations” which was published by the OCAG, Bangladesh. He is the author of a book titled “Accounting Comprehensive”.

Mr. Shahajahan is actively associated with several national and international professional organizations. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA), UK; Institute of Financial Consultants (IFC), USA. He also serving as the Vice President of Bangladesh Accounting Association (BAA). 

6^TH COUNCIL ELECTION OF ICSB HELD

The Election of the 6^th Council of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) was held under the provision of the Chartered Secretaries Act, 2010 on 27 September 2025 at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. 

A total of five hundred nineteen (519) members exercised their voting rights in a festive mood. In this election, 30 members contested and the following 13 members were elected as Council Members of ICSB for the 2025-2028 term:
