ICSB & ICSI JOINTLY ORGANISED INTERNATIONAL TRAINING ON “EXTENDED SCOPE OF WORKS FOR CS PROFESSIONALS”
Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) jointly organised international training on ‘Extended Scope of Works for CS Professionals’ held from 15 to 16 September 2023 at Holiday Inn, Dhaka, Bangladesh. A good number of participants from home and abroad attended the training programme.


Mr. Md Zakir Hossain, Secretary & CEO of ICSB invited and introduced guests on the stage for the inaugural session of the two days long international training on Extended Scope of Works for CS Professionals and welcomed all the participants.
Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of ICSB said that this training will extend the collaboration of ICSB and ICSI. He informed that, in the upcoming days this kind of training program will be continued for the development of Company Secretaries of both countries. The international training programme was inaugurated by Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of ICSB and CS Manish Gupta, President of ICSI was the Chief Guest.
Chief Guest CS Manish Gupta, President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) thanked ICSB for organizing this event. In his speech, he discussed about the extended scope of works for CS professionals. He ensures to extend continued professional expertise support to ICSB as and when requested. Mr. Gupta invited ICSB members to the upcoming National Convention of ICSI. He also emphasised the importance of creating a mutual forum among Asian Countries for the development of the CS profession.
Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Training Coordinator and Senior Vice President of ICSB said that Chartered Secretary Professionals can better serve the companies for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) process and Due Diligence Reporting as they get expertise from their professional course curriculum. He added the Companies Act 1994 needs to be replaced with a new law for incorporation of changes brought in for digital advancement, encouraging FDI and ease of doing business. Introduction of Secretarial for all companies including RMG and public sector will be encouraging for good governance and preventing business failure.
The learned Resource Persons, Moderators and Panelists of two days long training sessions included CS Asish Mohan, CS Manoj Kumar Purbey, CS Rupanjana De, CS Ranjeet Pandey, CS CMA Dr. Kaushik Banerjee, Mr. S. Abdur Rashid FCS, Barrister Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, Barrister Kazi Ershadul Alam, Mr. Mohammed Shahed Alam, CS Maloy Kumar Gupta, Mr. Apurba Kanti Das, Dr. Abdul Mannan Shikder, CMA V. Murali, CMA Rajendra Singh Bhati, Mr. Hossain Sadat FCS, Professor Dr. Feroz Iqbal Faruque FCS, Professor CS Subrata Kumar Ray and CS Kaushik Mukherjee.
During the training, important topics were discussed such as Corporate Governance, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Company Law, Secretarial Audit, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and Due Diligence Reporting and Income TAX Laws, Value Added Tax (VAT) & Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of ICSB and CS Manish Gupta, President of ICSI handed over the certificates to the participants. The programme was also attended by Council Members and Members of the Institute.
Finally, the training session was concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Mr. A. K. M. Mushfiqur Rahman FCS, Vice President of ICSB on behalf of the Institute.
